Mens Tungsten Wedding Bands

My husband and I are nearing our 1-year anniversary. I suggested maybe getting engravings on our wedding bands.

My ring is a simple one, that will easily be able to get an engraving. My husband has a tungsten ring. I read online about laser engravings, but do they do those before selling them, or can one send a ring out for laser engraving? Thanks!

And just for fun – and to assist in my brainstorming – any suggestions for an engraving?)

I’m trying to pick out a wedding band for my husband-to-be. A lot of people I know get titanium or tungsten rings instead of gold, but how durable are they? My fiance is a mechanic and works a lot in construction- so we’re looking for something that won’t be scratched and banged up easily.

So My fiance bought my wedding band and engagement ring in a set. I like jewelry that has both white and yellow gold, and he took that into consideration. So now that we’re starting to browse for his ring, he wants it to look similar to mine, as far as colouring goes. In our searches we’ve been coming across a lot of yellow gold and tungsten. IF I remember correctly, isn’t tungsten a stronger material? Would it turn his finger green, or is that only the rings that have like copper or something?

I am going to propose to my girlfriend of two years. I have been with her since I was 19 and she was 18. I will be going to the police academy in April and I wanted to propose to her the day before I go.

She does not care about a big ring in fact she has a stainless steel with the day we started dating engraved for a commitment ring that i gave her. I would like to get her a titanium band as an engagement ring with the meaning to be that thats how strong our love and relationship is for us. And the wedding ring to be tungsten b/c it is unbreakable and cannot be replaced with our wedding day engraved.

We have a great relationship and I am a metaphorical guy. Would this be a good idea or just get her a fat diamond and just ask her to marry me?

I am going shopping in the next few weeks for my fiance’s wedding band. I am SO confused…there are so many different types of metal….does anyone have the "basics" as to what’s what?
He won’t be wearing the ring daily, he is an automotive tech, and he can’t wear it for that reason. He does want it with him all the time though, so he wants to wear it on his chain for the most part, and put it on his hand when we go out and that sort of thing.
So….it won’t get lots of wear and tear, being on a necklace 95% of the time.
I just don’t know…I see stainless steel, titanium, tungsten, gold….too many choices!!

I’m not gay or anything, I just want some cool metal on my hand, and everywhere i look its like wedding band, wedding rings, is there a cool plain ring that’s a cool material? Tungsten, Titanium or Carbon fibre, something like that. I’m a 17 year old, so something nice not too flashy just plain old school would be nice.

Which would look the best? Do they even match? Could I put the Tungsten ring under my wedding ring?

2 years ago my fiance went and bought a ring that was Yellow Gold that he thought I would love and I really do love it. However, the wedding band that we bought for him is made of tungsten carbide and better for him because it’s not as soft as gold. I love him ring and when showed it to his mother the first thing she asked was if my ring was going to match. This had crossed my mind several times but I could never bear to part with ring he bought for me and want my band to match. My question is whether or not it’s wrong that our bands won’t match?

I am looking at getting my husband a new wedding band, probably a tungsten one b/c he works with his hands alot and wont have to worry about scratching it. His last band i had engraved "Forever, My love" I want to get the new one engraved but i wanted to think of something more sentimental. Any idea’s will help, it can be up to a couple lines long as well.
it can be engraved with a laser, not scratched by anything but diamond or laser. If the ring was to be smashed the jeweler said it would just turn to powder.

A friend of mine’s husband to be has a badly mangled wedding finger and I’m trying to help her find wedding rings that will fit him (the base of his finger is fine but the knuckle is very large due to damage). The only problem is is that she’d like to get him a ring in either stainless, titanium, or tungsten and I’ve never seen hinged rings in any of those. Please help us find a hinged ring that will suit as a wedding band…Thanks!

It’s been three weeks and it’s badly scratched, revealing the silver color underneath. He works with computers, so nothing hard on the ring. I called the company and they sent another, but now I’m worried the same is going to happen to the new one! Is it a myth that tungsten carbide doesn’t scratch? Anyone else have experience with a black tungsten carbide scratching?

Would just like to know people opinions on this material, ive never heard of it before but as its durability is supposed to be good, it sounds good for Hubby to be’s wedding band.

Thanks guys, luckily i seem to have found a site that can engrave on it if i want and they supply special instructions on how to cut off the ring if need be……scary thought that his wedding ring would mean he has to lose his finger in an accident….but i also heard that if it receives an impact hard enough it would shatter rather than squash.

Ok, my fiance and I are going to purchase my ring after work today but I am torn between 2 different ones. One is a very nice white gold. The other is a tungsten band. I like them both for many reasons.

White Gold
It looks much fancier and is very shiny. I have lighter colored skin and it matches my hand. Gold is easy to work with, it can be re-sized if my hand gets bigger. But, the color will fade so it does require some maintenance.

Tungsten
Much stronger metal that cant scratch. This ring stands out more and is darker than the white gold. The ring is cheaper. But cant be re-sized and I have heard rumors that if the ring needs to be removed in an emergency, it cant be cut off. I have read websites that say this isn’t true, but have heard from a lot of people that say it cant be removed.

I really like both rings, so I just need to decide which to go with.

Also, is there a difference between tungsten and tungsten carbide? or are they the same thing???

Also the tungsten ring is wider than the white gold. I could get the larger white gold, but it doesnt look right on my hand.

My fiance and I have been looking at wedding bands. He is an electrician is and does a lot of hard work with his hands. We were told that a tungsten ring would be good for him because it is such a strong material. Does anyone have any personal experience with a tungsten ring? Do they really hold up well? I was browsing through engagement rings with the GF and I was looking at the mens wedding bands at a jeweler in the mall and I really liked the tungsten carbide rings they had for sale which were going for 300 to 700 bucks.

I go on ebay and I find the same styles of rings for 30 to 50 bucks. I would understand a 50 to 75 bucks cheaper online vs retailers, but Hundreds of dollars cheaper, what gives? are they fake, not well made?
If anyone has any input on this, let me know.

Guys out there with like… the Tungsten Titanium wedding bands… what do you think of them?

I’m getting married in August and we’ve started shopping for wedding bands. I have all but settled on a domed 8mm tungsten ring, but have a few concerns. I’ve read about tungsten’s ability to shatter and seen videos of rings being broken – while I’m all for being able to get it off if I break a finger, what would happen if I got in a fistfight? Not that it happens very often, but I’ll hopefully be wearing this ring for the rest of my life right? I’m sure that there will be at least a few times when I’ll have to throw a punch at someone without the benefit of being able to take my ring off first. Does anyone know (or preferably have experience of) whether the force exerted in, say, a punch to the jaw would be enough to shatter one? Thanks in advance.

I looked at pictures and such and they look more masculine but what exactly are they… I want a white gold ring and not something that is going to tarnish or turn color… can you get these rings in white gold? My fiance and I just ordered wedding bands and decided to go with tungsten carbide. I have a tendencey to develop a rash from cheap jewelry or even watches and earrings have to be silver, gold, or made for sensitive ears, otherwise they get infected. I know that some of the cheaper tungsten carbide rings use cobalt in the manufacturing process which can cause irritation. We are purchasing "Artcarved" brand ring which aren’t supposed to use that process. Do you think it’s possible that I will have a reaction? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Is it uncommon for us guys to wear a promise ring? Also, is it uncommon to wear the given promise ring as the wedding band? Thanks all for the answers. She just broke up with me because I didn’t move fast enough for her in a relationship. There’s no way i will marry someone when only dating for a year. "we have been dating for 2 months, and i was planning for the rings in summer." It wasn’t soon enough for her. Am i the only one who thinks its just a bit too fast on her end? I’m trying to find a wedding band and I’m not to picky on whether it is gold or not as long as it isn’t the yellow gold. While skimming through the stores/websites I noticed more and more rings being made out of tungsten and titanium. Are either of these materials any good as far as lasting and not changing colors or the skin colors? I like the looks of a lot of them better than gold and noticed some cost more but I didn’t know how good they were. I’d rather get some opinions before buying one and then it not be all that good.
